This is a transcript of the video below, both in Filipino and English.
Jesus said,
“Come away by yourselves and rest awhile.”
Mark 6:31
Take micro-breaks. Take the 20-20-20 rule. After 20 minutes screen exposure, look at an object esp a plant 20 meters away for 20 seconds. Gawin ang nagpapasaya sa iyo araw-araw. At huwag kalimutan manahimik at magdasal.
Amen.
Are you extremely exhausted? For a fruitful life, join me in another episode of “Coffee and Prayer.” Kape’t Pandasal [Coffee and Prayer]
Pandemic life is indeed sapping. This tiredness is expressed by many students who spend time online or by those who work from home. There are no boundaries between your work and rest. The bedroom is also the classroom.
But rest is important. Mark wrote in his gospel how Jesus responded to his disciples who reported about what they have done. Jesus said,
“Come away by yourselves and rest awhile.”
Mark 6:31
And when they left to a deserted place, Mark added a detail: people heard about where they went, and they followed them. In other words, there is no end to work. But our bodies have limits.
Take micro-breaks for 15 minutes. Go out and soak in the sun. Take the 20-20-20 rule. After 20 minutes screen exposure, look at an object especially a plant 20 meters away for 20 seconds. Do what makes you happy every day. And remember to spend time for quiet and prayer.
Let us pray: O Lord, give us the opportunity to rest in order for us to do your will with a greater joy. Amen.
